Part 1 - Timeline: Day 1 - 0010

"What about Commander Gant?" Tevak asked.
Vadosia looked to Tevak, then to Jaca. "The Compound’s XO?" He asked for confirmation.
"We haven't been able to get close enough to get a decent scan. Hes on the list of possibles. We can probably scan him when we go for our next weekly briefing with Tarmin and Juliana." Jaca replied.
"Tarmin is on the safe list, yes?" The Admiral asked.
Tevak answered before Jaca had the chance. "As an Ullian, he is highly unlikely to be susceptible to this kind of conditioning. That said, I believe he has already been scanned?" Tevak looking to Jaca as he nodded. "One of the reasons we placed him in command of the Compound. The only potential agents out of both Captains and XO's is Julianna. She is half Human and Half Betazoid. We know Betazoids can't be conditioned, but we are not sure on Betazoid hybrids."
A panel on Vadosia's desk started to chirp. He looked to it, and a message flashed across the screen, from someone on Gamma Command. A general status report he had requested on all Starfleet assets in the Gamma quadrant. He skimmed through it, looking for the real reason he had requested the report. He looked to the Betazoid. "Jaca, The Unification has reached the position we wanted it to." He tapped a few keys, starting events in motion. "The probe has been launched from the Ya'Vakt. You better get going. The Runabout is cloaked in a polar orbit, below sensor range. Use transporter code 948 to beam aboard. Once aboard, it will erase itself."
Jaca nodded to Vadosia as he stood up to leave the room. He went to turn around, and realising that he may not see either of these people again, stood to attention, then held out a hand to shake both the Admirals then the Commanders. "Good luck Vadosia, Tevak."
Vadosia took his hand, and held tight. "Thank you Jaca. Good luck to you as well. Though fear luck is all we have. Be safe my friend."
Tevak stood. He held up one and, and split his fingers. "Live Long and Prosper, Jaca Traylor."
"Peace and long life, Tevak." He returned with the Vulcan salute. He nodded once more to both men, then left the room."
Tevak was the first to speak. "Sir, we should carry on with the list."
"Indeed." Vadosia replied. "How many ships are in the Gamma quadrant now? 32?"
"According to Jaca's reports, 35. The Cairo, Pinnacle and the Maketu arrived in the last week. They are captained by Captains Rippell, Terax and Minarla respectively." Tevak replied.
"Terax, I know that name. I've seen him on recent reports."
"He was recently promoted. He was a former XO of New Bajor, the compound, but was transferred out before you took this position. He is now Captain of the Pinnacle."
"Its getting late Tevak, we should sleep. I fear the coming weeks will leave us without rest." The Vulcan opened his mouth to speak, before Vadosia cut him off. "And don't say anything about you Vulcans needing no sleep, even you need to rest from time to time." Jaca should arrive at the rendezvous point in around 12 hours. Ill be here from around 7am, you better be here before I do.” He finished the sentence with a smile.
"Sleep well Vadosia."
Part 2 - Timeline: Day 1 - 0755
- Location: New Bajor, The 'Compound', Adislo's Office
"Good Morning Captains" Vadosia spoke to the monitor on his desk. It was split between Captain Mavroidis, CO of the ground base of DS11 and Captain Terlexa, CO of the Space Station of DS11, colloquially known as The Compound and Gamma Command respectively. "I trust you both slept well?" Both officers nodded. Vadosia liked to have conversations with both of them at once, kept everyone in the loop he thought. And of course Gamma Command was in a synchronous orbit above New Bajor, specifically above the Compound, to maintain the same time zone. This helped, as staff from both facilities often interchanged between both.
"Yes, Admiral, a pleasant night here on New Bajor." Tarmin Mavroidis, the Ullian Captain replied.
"I heard it was quite pleasant. I was here on the station all night. Did manage to get some sleep though. We have a few people down with some form of virus, so no transfers up today Tarmin, but I do have some people to beam down. They were cleared by medical this morning."
"Receiving the personal files now, Juliana."
Vadosia looked to Captain Terlexa. "How bad is the virus Juliana? Where did it come from?"
"We think a freighter worker brought it in on one of the last supply runs. We haven't been able to isolate when, but its non-life threatening and with a few hyposprays a day, it goes away."
"Thanks Juliana, please keep me informed."
Tarmin spoke up. "Juliana, you may begin beaming down todays transfers. You are sure they haven't contracted the virus?"
"They have been cleared by Doctor Menendez." The channel suddenly became momentarily static, as some interference disrupted the transmission. "Anyone else see that?"
Vadosia nodded. He called out to his Yeoman. "Tevak, we are getting some interference, can you see what the cause is?" He turned back to the screen, "Tevak is working on it, where were…"The channel cut. "Tevak, I've lost the signal."
Tevak came into the Admirals office, almost running, with a phaser in his hand. "I cut the signal. Its happening."
"Dear god." Vadosia tapped several keys on his desk, activating certain subroutines that would begin working almost instantaneously. "Lets move." A sound in the distance caused them both to turn and look out the window, where a phaser fight was happening in the gardens in front of the building. He tapped the corner of one of the consoles on the wall, revealing a hidden compartment containing a phaser and modified tricorder. "We need to secure the compound." He tapped some keys on the tricorder, which synced it up with his comm badge, which would now scramble his location and communications. "Adislo to Mavroidis. Report."
"Admiral, we need help, the transfers from Gamma Command beamed down heavily armed, they are working through the outer layers from the transporter room. I'm sealed in my office for now, with my XO, someone sealed the room from the outside." The Ullian replied.
"Are you armed Captain?"
"Yes, myself and Commander Channing are. Who are these people Vadosia?"
"They were our friends and colleagues Captain. Trust no one. We will be there soon. Vadosia out." He tapped his comm badge. "Tevak, it was the transmission interference wasn't it."
Tevak nodded. "Apparently the sensor buoys we have throughout the quadrant have hidden hardware and software in them, which allows them to double as subspace relays. They are flooding the quadrant with subspace communications, trillions of them, effectively blocking subspace communication for the time being. There is one message getting through though."
"What does it say?" The Admiral asked, almost not wanting to know.
"Just 3 words Vadosia. Pity is treason."
"We need to get to Tarmin, now. Computer, activate Adislo security program one."
The computer responded slower than it should have. "That program is no longer valid. Security access is required."
He turned to Tevak. "They move quickly. Fortunately, I move quicker." He smiled. "Computer, run waste reclamation system, subroutine four alpha two."
"Working… Work...that functi….access is requ….. Access restored. Adislo security program one is now running."
"Excellent. We now have an isolated system within the computer system. Including transporter control. Someone has raised the shields around the compound command center though. We can beam as close as we can, and work from there. Computer, site to site transport to the following location." He entered the location on his tricorder. "Energise."
Part 3 - Timeline: Day 1 - 0755
- Location: New Bajor, The 'Compound', Captain Mavroidis' Office
"Good Morning Captains". Vadosia was always so cheerful in the mornings, Tarmin thought to himself. He was sitting at his desk and as channel opened for his morning briefing with the Admiral and Captain Terlexa. He sipped some of his coffee. "I trust you both slept well?"
Tarmin nodded to the Vadosia, as Julianna did. "Yes, Admiral, a pleasant night here on New Bajor.
Juliana spoke up. "I heard it was quite pleasant. I was here on the station all night. Did manage to get some sleep though. We have a few people down with some form of virus, so no transfers up today Tarmin, but I do have some people to beam down. They were cleared by medical this morning."
A message scrolled across the bottom of the screen from Commander Channing, saying the officer files were being downloaded."Receiving the personal files now, Juliana."
"How bad is the virus Juliana? Where did it come from?"
"We think a freighter worker brought it in on one of the last supply runs. We haven't been able to isolate when, but its non-life threatening and with a few hyposprays a day, it goes away."
"Thanks Juliana, please keep me informed." Vadosia replied.
With the files all downloaded, the compute automatically assigned them to their positions. "Juliana, you may begin beaming down todays transfers. You are sure they haven't contracted the virus?" The last thing he needed was to bring a virus into the compound.
"They have been cleared by Doctor Menendez." There was suddenly interference on the screen. Julianna spoke first. "Anyone else see that?"
Tarmin nodded as Vadosia did. "Tevak, we are getting some interference, can you see what the cause is? Tevak is working on it, where were…" The channel cut. And the sound of phaser fire in the distance caused him to reach for his weapon under his desk.
Tarmin called out to Commander Channing. "Zach, get in here!" The Compound XO came running in, phaser drawn. "Report. Commander."
"The officers from Gamma Command were security officers, they beamed down armed, and started firing on the staff. Some of our staff seemed to be on their side, saying something about Pitying treason? I don't know, I grabbed a phaser and then you called me in." the Commander replied.
There was a hissing noise, and the sound of a force field being activated. "What was that?" The Captain asked.
Channing picked up a tricorder from an equipment locker and began scanning. "Someone has activated a security protocol. Looks like it was triggered as soon as I entered the room. Our own people are doing this.
A comm channel opened in the room. "Adislo to Mavroidis. Report."
"Admiral, we need help, the transfers from Gamma Command beamed down heavily armed, they are working through the outer layers from the transporter room. I'm sealed in my office for now, with my XO, someone sealed the room from the outside." He replied.
"Are you armed Captain?"
"Yes, myself and Commander Channing are. Who are these people Vadosia?" The sound of worry evident in his voice.
"They were our friends and colleagues Captain. Trust no one. We will be there soon. Vadosia out."
Tarmin looked to Zach. "We need to try and figure out what's going on." He sat at his desk, his access code was still working. He tried using the internal sensors, to try and work out what exactly was going on. He pulled up security footage of the transporter room. 6 security officers from Gamma Command beamed down, phasers drawn. They fired on the transporter chief before he had a chance to call for help. They then beamed down more and more officers, and disabled the transporter. 24 officers were beamed down. Tarmin was beginning to think that there was no virus on the station. "We have no idea how many are on our side. With the security fields up, we may as well wait for the Admiral to arrive."
Zach picked up a PADD from the Captain’s desk. "We may as well try and figure out how why this is happening. Is there anything you aren't telling me Tarmin?"
"Nothing that I can recall. There was a captains briefing a few weeks back about an unknown group that was making its way back onto the scene, but thats only a few weeks back. There is no way this could have been planned in only a few weeks. Simultaneously cutting communications, isolating everyone around New Bajor, and launching a full scale assault? No way. Not to mention why they seem to be our own people firing at us." "It doesn't seem like it could be them. But right now we can't rule anything out. We should try and monitor the security feeds, see if we can do anything to help the Admiral reach our location." The Commander replied in a surprisingly calm tone.
"Indeed, lets see if we can identify who is on our side, and who is on theirs. Hopefully the Admiral arrives before they…" he pointed to the enemy security officers on the screen. "Get here."
Part 4 - Timeline: Day 1 - 0755
- Location: New Bajor, Gamma Command, Captain Terlexa's Office
"Good Morning Captains" Juliana was still going through some of her reports, but she had been expecting this briefing, so was mostly prepared. She had pulled another all night shift, playing catch up. "I trust you both slept well?" The Admiral asked. She nodded, but it was a lie. She had survived the night on coffee.
The Compound’s CO replied first, which gave her a few seconds to come up with a small lie. "Yes, Admiral, a pleasant night here on New Bajor." Captain Mavroidis replied.
"I heard it was quite pleasant. I was here on the station all night. Did manage to get some sleep though." She tapped some keys on her console. "We have a few people down with some form of virus, so no transfers up today Tarmin, but I do have some people to beam down. They were cleared by medical this morning."
"Receiving the personal files now, Juliana."
The Admiral looked to her."How bad is the virus Juliana? Where did it come from?"
"We think a freighter worker brought it in on one of the last supply runs. We haven't been able to isolate when, but its non-life threatening and with a few hyposprays a day, it goes away."
"Thanks Juliana, please keep me informed." The Admiral replied. She nodded in agreement, as a message popped up on one of her PADDs. It was only 3 words, but she knew what it meant. She tapped several more keys on her console, and she set in motion events that would shake Starfleet's presence in the Gamma Quadrant to its very core.
Tarmin spoke up. "Juliana, you may begin beaming down todays transfers. You are sure they haven't contracted the virus?" She nodded.
"They have been cleared by Doctor Menendez." The channel suddenly became momentarily static, as some interference disrupted the transmission. "Anyone else see that?"
"Tevak, we are getting some interference, can you see what the cause is?" He turned back to the screen, "Tevak is working on it, where were…" The channel cut.
She looked out onto the command center of Gamma Command, where several security officers had just arrived via the 3 turbolifts. She grabbed a phaser from a drawer in her desk and stepped out of her office, and walked to the center console. "Commander Axam, report." "Subspace is being flooded with thousand of transmissions. Short range and long range communications are affected. Thats why we think we lost the signal to New Bajor."
Juliana looked to the security officers who were in positions around the command center. "I'm going to say 3 words. If you know exactly what they are, please be seated." A look of confusion was across the faces of the command crew. "Pity is treason."
3 people took seats, the Chief Security officer, the Chief Tactical officer and a communications officer. The remaining 6 officers, including Command Axam remained standing. "Captain?" He asked in vain.
"Sorry David, nothing personal." Juliana pulled out her phaser and fired, the officer crumpling to the floor, while the security officers present stunned the other remaining officers. The Chief Security officer stood up. "Report Commander Stanton."
"Command center is secure. Non essential personnel have been ordered to their quarters. Commander Axam and the others are to be arrested on charges of treason and sedition. The team we beamed down to the Compound are under orders to stun anyone trying to stop them, and to arrest Captain Mavroidis, Commander’s Channing and Tevak and Admiral Adislo, on charges of treason and sedition. We have a team making their way to the Admirals office, and 2 teams heading for the command center, where Captain Mavroidis and Commander Channing are located. But they activated a security system we weren't aware of, that will take some time to deactivate. We also have a team heading to Commodore Camerons office, and a team going to the medical center."
"Excellent." She sat at a chair at the center console, and tapped the console. "All hands, this is Captain Terlexa. Commander’s Axom, Sale, Nekan, Lieutenants Feltan and Nicoletti and Ensign Corta have been arrested and removed from their positions on charges of sedition and treason against Starfleet and the Federation. This has come as a shock to us all. Commander Stanton is now acting XO. If anyone has any suspicions of their colleagues, do not hesitate to contact the command center. Pity is treason. Terlexa out."
"What now Captain?" Commander Stanton asked.
Juliana flashed an evil smile. "Now, we finish what we started."
